Introduction :

The D.A.V. College Trust and Management Society established its first educational Institution viz.D.A.V. College at Lahore, on 1st of June, 1886 with Mahatma Hans Raj Ji as its honorary Principal to perpetuate the sacred memory of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, one of the greatest religious and social reformers of the present era. Since then it has progressed into a national movement and attracted a very large number of devoted and dedicated workers enlightened beyond measure with indestructible belief in Indian philosophy, culture and heritage.

The D.A.V.Movement has not only established its root all over the country but has also played a leading role in providing education based on our own culture and heritage, synthesized with modern science and technology. The D.A.V. Institutions have been serving as radiant centers of light and culture for more than 100 years by imparting knowledge of highest quality irrespective of caste, creed, Colour and culture. The seed sown by the founding father blossomed into a gigantic educational set up which produced patriots like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Jurists like Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, Bakshi Sir Tek Chand, a Nobel laureate like Dr. Hargobind Khurana, eminent personalities like Prof. Yash Pal Ex. Chairman, University-Grant Commission and Dr. P.L. Wahi earlier Director, P.G.I. Chandigarh, Principal Diwan Chand, Dr. G.L. Dutta, Padam Bhushan Lala Suraj Bhan, Late Prof. Ved Vyas and many others of whom the nation feels justly proud of.

The D.A.V. College Trust and Management Society is the largest educational organization next to the Government in India. It covers the entire spectrum of education in the country. The Society is running educational Institutions, Which includes:

Though it was running an Ayurvedic College at Jalandhar after the partition of the country in 1947, the D.A.V. Trust entered the field of medical education and health care in 1986 when it established Maharishi Dayanand Maternity and General Hospital and the J.N. KAPOOR D.A.V. (C) Dental College at Yamuna Nagar in 1987. This historic decision gave a new direction to the D.A.V. fraternity and is likely to make the D.A.V. movement achieve new heights in the field of medical education and health delivery.

The first batch of students admitted in session 1987-88 to the B.D.S. Course has passed out in December, 1992 after completion of one year rotating internship and 14th Batch in July 2005. The results of examinations held of theses dental students have been exemplary and as source of inspiration for other institutions.

The College is affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and is recognized by the Dental Council of India to admit 40 students annually to B.D.S. Course vide Central Govt. letter No V. 12018/3/94- PMS - 4 dated 24-2-1995. The duration of the B.D.S Course is five year including one year compulsory paid rotating internship.

Having achieved the desired goals with B.D.S. i.e. graduation level, the State Government of Haryana, Central Government, and the Dental Council of India and Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra have given permission to start P.G. Courses (M.D.S.) for the time being in six specialties, namely:

  1. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

  2. Prosthondontics including Crown and Bridge and Implantology.

  3. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.

  4. Orthodontics.

  5. Periodontics

  6. Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry.

The K.U. Kurukshetra, to which the College is affiliated, has also given affiliation to these specialties.
